Eating Seasonally- Spring edition

Eating Seasonally- Spring edition

Change in Season, an opportunity to try new foods. Spring, the season where warmer weather begins, flowers are budding, and leafy greens are in abundance. It’s just the start to a wonderful summer season when fruits and vegetables are plentiful. You may notice some fruits do not grow in your area, like papaya. This is a time where you may need to buy something that is not local, but in season.

One of the best ways to eat in Season is to shop at your local farmers market. Spring is the time where many farmers markets begin to re open if they were closed for the winter. To find a local farmers market click here. Another option to look into is signing up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Usually the cut off for Summer CSA’s are mid-end of March. Have fun with your family by trying a “new” in season fruit of vegetable each week. Try different preparation methods (example- cook vs raw). Which food preparation was your family’s favorite? Remember, make meal time enjoyable and fun for all 🙂 Spring Eating
