Elderberry Syrup

Equipment

  • 1 Mason Jar or Glass flip top jars

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Dried Elderberries
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1-2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 tsp Ceylon Cinnamon
  • 4 Dried Cloves
  • 1 Orange Peel Can sub for Lemon Peel
  • 1 Orange Juiced Optional
  • 1 Lemon Juiced
  • 1 cup Raw Honey

Instructions
 

  • In a Medium sized pot, add all ingredients except for the honey and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
  • Simmer with the lid off for 40-45minutes. The liquid will reduce to about half.
  • Take a mason jar, add a funnel and use either a cheese cloth or fine mesh strainer. Strain the mixture, pressing on the elderberries to smash and reap all the juice.
  • Let cool completely. Then mix in the raw honey. and lemon juice
  • Store in the fridge. Best used within 3months when sealed tightly with a lid.

How to take:

  • Adults take 1tablespoon once per day.
    Children under 12 take 1 tsp per day
    **Do NOT give to babies under 1 due to containing honey.
  • When you feel a sickness coming on, increase dosage to same amounts 3-4 times a day (every 3-4 hours take a serving).

Notes

Get creative, add Rosemary sprigs- which naturally contain antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
